SC Amateur 2nd round washed out Friday

The second round of the South Carolina Amateur Golf Championship was rained out Friday at Columbia Country Club.  The tournament has been reduced to 54 holes and will be resumed on Saturday. 

USC’s Wesley Bryan is the leader after a first round of four under 67.

Round 1 results from state amatuer

The first round of the 35th Palmetto Amateur, held at the historic Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, SC, is now complete. 99 golfers are in the field. The conditions were calm and hot, with the temperature reaching 101 degrees in the afternoon.

Carter Newman of Augusta, GA, a member of the NCAA Division I Championship team from Augusta State, had the low round of 66 on the par 70 course. Carter Collins of Statesboro, GA, Assistant Coach of the Georgia Southern golf team, was in second place with a 67. Four golfers shot 69 and nine contestants shot even par 70.

The second round begins at 7:30 am on Thursday. A cut to the low 60 and ties will be made after the third round on Friday.
