Exclusive: Kyle Parker on his past, present and future

Kyle Parker's pro baseball career is off to a nice start

We had a chance to catch up with former Clemson football and baseball start Kyle Parker today. Parker is currently playing low-A ball with the Asheville Tourist and he’s killing it. After missing some time with a stomach virus he’s back on the field and hitting .439 with one homerun (grand slam) and 16 RBI. He’s only played in 13 games and has 46 at-bats this season.

Parker will be back in the Palmetto State this weekend when the Tourist open a series with the Greenville Drive Saturday at Flour Field. It may be Parker’s only trip to Greenville because he could move up to AA ball if he continues to rake at his current pace.

Be sure to check out the interview for Kyle’s thoughts on his Clemson career, Tajh Boyd, Dabo Swinney and the NFL draft.

Exclusive: One on One with Dabo Swinney

Dabo Swinney was as optimistic as ever Thursday

We caught up with Clemson coach Dabo Swinney in Charlotte this morning on the eve of the Tigers Meineke Car Care Bowl matchup with South Florida.  Dabo always has plenty to say and he didn’t disappoint us today.

Among the highlights of Swinney’s comments was his assertion that Kyle Parker will one day play football again.  No, not at Clemson, obviously that ship has sailed.  But Swinney believes that Parker could end up landing somewhere in pro football if the baseball thing doesn’t pan out.  Swinney maintains that Parker has NFL talent as a quarterback.

No regrets for Kyle Parker as he prepares for his final game

It has been a rough season for Kyle Parker

This summer Kyle Parker turned down almost a million dollars to return for one more season of football at Clemson.  Five months and six losses later Parker says he still doesn’t regret the decision

“There are always decisions you make that you want to go back and tweak a little bit but I don’t think there are any where I can say, ‘man what were you doing here?,” Parker said.   Obviously I’d want to win some more games but I think every decision I’ve made has been for a purpose and turned out for a reason.”

Clemson QB situation could get worse before it gets better

Even with his struggles, Kyle Parker is better than Tajh Boyd

Anyone who thinks Tajh Boyd is better than Kyle Parker is ignoring reality.  Parker is still better, and that is not good news for Tiger fans that believe Boyd is the answer to all of the offensive problems.

We all know Parker has had his share of struggles this season.  The sophomore slump hit him and hit him hard.  Some say Parker was never the same after the rib injury in the Auburn game.  Some say the loss of C.J. Spiller and Jacoby Ford were just too much to overcome.  Some say Parker never was able to mesh with the new receiving corps because he was gone most of the summer negotiating a pro baseball contract. Some say Parker was overhyped going into the season, like when Dabo Swinney called him an NFL prospect.
