According to sources, former Clemson defensive tackle Jamie Cumbie might play his final season at Coastal Carolina.  Cumbie was dismissed from the Clemson squad by head coach Dabo Swinney following his arrest May 28th for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Cumbie needs to complete his academic work at Clemson this summer to complete his degree there to be eligible to transfer to another school.  And according to a source, the circumstances surrounding his arrest need to be clarified before Coastal will accept him.  Cumbie and his family maintain a different story about the altercation that led to his arrest than what’s been made public at this point.

A source said at  least two other Clemson football players were involved in the fracas.  The Anderson Independent-Mail reported that receiver Terrance Ashe was suspended from all summer activities because of his involvement but is expected to be reinstated before the start of practice.  The third player has not been publicly identified and it’s not known if  he received any penalty from the school.
