Dabo Swinney pre FSU press conference

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney held his weekly news conference today as his Tigers get set for a huge ACC matchup against Florida State. Clemson is 3-2 in the ACC and the Seminoles are 2-3 so the game carries huge weight in the Atlantic division race. Boston College is also 3-2 but Clemson beat the Eagles in the head to head matchup so a win Saturday against the Noles will put the Tigers in great position to win their first ever ACC Atlantic division title and send them to Tampa Bay to play for the ACC title.

There are a lot of people that say Florida State isn’t nearly as talented as they have been in the past. The Seminoles have struggled the past few seasons and this season as well. But Tiger running back C.J. Spiller and wide receiver Jacoby Ford argue that the Noles are still one of the most athletic teams in the country. is a Florida native and he is very excited about this week’s matchup with a team from the Sunshine State. FSU was his first offer and a school that was in his final three during the recruiting process.

Swinney, Tigers preview Miami

Breaking News: Clemson football

Clemson freshman offensive lineman JK Jay will have back surgery Wednesday and he will not play this season.  Freshman walk-on Phillip Price will move from tight end to the offensive line to add depth to that position.

Wide receiver Jacoby Ford is continuing to rehab his tender hamstring.  He expects to be back on the field by Saturday’s scrimmage.

The team is being forced to vacate two practices because it wore too many pads in the early workouts last week.  The thigh pads the players wore apparently put them past the limit of allowable pads.

Because of the violation Clemson will not practice tonight or Friday night.
