Bowers works out for NFL scouts

Da'Quan Bowers is expected to go early in the NFL draft

Former Clemson All-American Da’Quan Bowers held a workout for NFL teams at Death Valley on Friday morning. The workout took about two hours and included some strength training work in the Clemson Strength Training Facility and various drills in Clemson Memorial Stadium.

Bowers ran the 40-yard dash three times and also did a three-cone drill and various other agility drills that are designed to evaluate linemen. Former teammates Miguel Chavis, Jamie Cumbie and Jarvis Jenkins also worked out on Friday for the scouts.

Bowers ready for the next step

Clemson All American defensive end Da’Quan Bowers held one more media session at Clemson Saturday afternoon before leaving campus to begin his training for the next step in his career…the NFL.

Bowers announced earlier this month that he would be leaving Clemson with one year of eligibility remaining.  Bowers has been projected to be among the top three picks in the draft this April.

We caught up with Clemson coach Dabo Swinney in Charlotte this morning on the eve of the Tigers Meineke Car Care Bowl matchup with South Florida.  Dabo always has plenty to say and he didn’t disappoint us today.

Among the highlights of Swinney’s comments was his assertion that Kyle Parker will one day play football again.  No, not at Clemson, obviously that ship has sailed.  But Swinney believes that Parker could end up landing somewhere in pro football if the baseball thing doesn’t pan out.  Swinney maintains that Parker has NFL talent as a quarterback.

Bowers prepares for what could be his final game at Clemson

Da'Quan Bowers has had a monster junior season

Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers claims he still has not made a decision about his NFL future.  The junior out of Bamberg is projected to be a top five pick in the NFL draft.  Most people assume it’s a foregone conclusion that Bowers will not return for his final season.  Bowers has yet to announce his future plans, but he did acknowledge Monday that his time at Clemson could be ending soon.
