Legal experts agree no charges for Craig & Wesh uncommon

Joe Craig

Marlena Wesh

Today SportsTalk contacted three different law offices and talked with one former solicitor to get their opinions on how the case involving Clemson athletes Joe Craig and Marlena Wesh  was handled by the Clemson University police department.

Neither Craig nor Wesh were charged in the case because the Police Captain said neither wanted to press charges and the department always respects the wishes of the victims. The police report also indicates alcohol was involved in the incident. Craig and Wesh are both under 21 years old.

Almost every legal expert we spoke to agreed that under most circumstances one or both of the individuals involved in an altercation that involves injuries to this extent would have been arrested and charged. It is however important to note that, despite the fact this incident involved a male and a female it is not a case of criminal domestic violence, which usually comes with more enforcement. Instead it is a case of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Dabo Swinney’s final thoughts on spring practice

Dabo Swinney is feeling good heading into the summer

As promised we have the audio of Dabo Swinney’s post-spring ACC teleconference. The almost always positive Swinney reiterated last year’s disappointing season is behind them and bright things are ahead.

AUDIO: Dabo Swinney

Swinney continues to talk highly of the additions to his staff, namely Chad Morris. He seems confident Morris will be able to solve last season’s offensive struggles. The Tigers will have an experienced offensive line and a stable of strong running backs to build the offense around. The key will be how Tajh Boyd plays at quarterback and if the receiving corps can take a step forward from last year.

Check out the post below to see the Tigers post-spring depth chart.

Tigers talk about Saturday scrimmage

Swinney was happy with Saturday's scrimmage

Clemson staged a spring scrimmage Saturday at Death Valley.  Among those to meet with the media afterwards were head coach Dabo Swinney, defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, quarterback Tajh Boyd and safety Rashard Hall.

Swinney just wrapped up his press conference to break down his latest group of players.  In typical Swinney fashion it is both long and entertaining.

You can listen to all of Swinney’s comments below.

Exclusive: One on One with Dabo Swinney

Dabo Swinney was as optimistic as ever Thursday

We caught up with Clemson coach Dabo Swinney in Charlotte this morning on the eve of the Tigers Meineke Car Care Bowl matchup with South Florida.  Dabo always has plenty to say and he didn’t disappoint us today.

AUDIO: Dabo Swinney interview

Among the highlights of Swinney’s comments was his assertion that Kyle Parker will one day play football again.  No, not at Clemson, obviously that ship has sailed.  But Swinney believes that Parker could end up landing somewhere in pro football if the baseball thing doesn’t pan out.  Swinney maintains that Parker has NFL talent as a quarterback.
