Quigley will skip British Open

Former USC standout Brett Quigley has decided he won’t play in this week’s British Open. Despite the fact that he earned a last minute invitation, Quigley isn’t making the trip to Scotland because he wants to honor his commitment to the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee this week and he plans attend the memorial for the wife of his friend and fellow tour Player Chris Smith. She was killed in a car crash last month. Quigley finished tied for second at the John Deere Classic over the weekend.

There will be some locals in the field for the Open Championship when it tees off Thursday at Turnberry. Coastal Carolina alum Dustin Johnson will tee off at 3:09 Thursday morning…that’s local time of course, Clemson alum DJ Trahan will go off shortly after 5:00 in the morning, US Open Champion Lucas Glover will tee off at 7:58. Tiger Woods will begin his first round at 4:09 Thursday morning.

Locals prepare to tee off at AT&T National

The PGA tour is in Maryland for the AT&T National hosted by Tiger Woods. Former Clemson star and U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover will be playing with Tiger on Thursday and Friday. Glover played last week at the Travelers Championship and did well but he’s hoping he can get back in contention this weekend.

Fellow Clemson alum and Columbia native Charles Warren is also in the field this weekend. Former USC standout Brett Quigley and Greenville native Matt Bettencourt are also playing.

The tournament tees off bright and early Thursday morning.  Glover tees off a little after 1:00 Thursday afternoon.
