Tonight we broke down the many controversies that took place over the weekend at Richmond on Saturday night.  Kyle Busch took care of business, yet again, for the 4th straight time at the track.  We’re also only two weeks away before showtime at Chris’ track for the Bojangles Southern 500.  We talk preparation, and whether or not Danica has a chance of finishing.

The Clemson baseball team has been playing good baseball lately, and won their latest series against Georgia Tech over the weekend, 2-1.  However, the series victory has come at a price.

Tiger Ace, Kevin Brady, has been sidelined for at least 2 weeks after pulling his hamstring while covering a base during Friday night’s start against the Yellow Jackets. 

Later in Friday’s game, Tiger Closer, Matt Campbell, went down in the ninth after suffering a “lat” strain, and was initially out indefinitely.  Tonight on SportsTalk, Clemson Head Coach, Jack Leggett, confirmed that Campbell will be out for the season.  Leggett addressed the injuries to two of his biggest arms, and outlined where his Tigers will go from here.

Last week the USC basketball team receieved a flurry of commits for next season, landing two on Thursday, as well as two more on Friday.  The last of the four players to choose the Gamecocks on Friday was Tarik Phillip, a Point Guard from Brooklyn, who play currently attends Queen City Prep in Charlotte.

SportsTalk has been tracking down the High School coaches of the newest commits, to provide fans an overview of the talent headed their way.  Tonight we welcomed in Head Coach of Queen City Prep, Tony Taylor, to talk about his Point Guard who will be a Gamecock next season.

SportsTalk Rewind 4.24.12: Clemson Assistant James Johnson (AUDIO)

Late last week the Clemson basketball team hired James Johnson away from Virginia Tech as an assistant to Brad Brownell.  Johnson replaces former tiger assistant, Rick Ray, who recently took the head coaching position at Mississippi State.

Coach Johnson left the Virginia Tech program seemingly just in time, as the head man in Blacksburg, Seth Greenberg, was fired only days after Johnson left.  We discussed his stay with the Hokies, his basketball philosophy, and also talked a little recruiting with Johnson, amongst other things.

SportsTalk Rewind 4.23.12: South Kent coach Kelvin Jefferson

Tonight we welcomed into SportsTalk, Head Basketball Coach of South Kent Prep in Kent, Connecticut, Kelvin Jefferson.  South Kent Prep is home to one of four newly minted commitments to the USC basketball team.  Laimonas Chatkevicius is a 7-foot Lithuanian bringing his skills to Columbia later in 2012.

Coach Jefferson breaks down not only how to pronounce Chatkevicius (easier than you might initially think), and also provides fantastic insight into what Gamecock fans can expect from the young man’s game.
