Six Clemson players head to NFL Combine this week

Dwayne Allen is one of the top tight ends on the draft board

Six members of Clemson’s ACC Championship football team have been invited to the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, IN. The Combine that puts NFL prospects through various physical tests of athletic ability will be held Feb. 22-28 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Clemson players who will participate are Dwayne Allen, first-team consensus All-America tight end, Andre Branch, second-team All-America defensive end, Antoine McClain, three year starter at offensive guard, Rennie Moore, starting defensive tackle, Coty Sensabaugh, starting cornerback, and Brandon Thompson, second-team All-ACC defensive tackle.

Former USC tight end Weslye Saunders talks about life in the NFL (AUDIO)

Former USC tight end Weslye Saunders joined us on SportsTalk First Edition today to talk about his rookie season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Saunders overcame the long odds of being an undrafted free agent to an offensive contributor this season. He caught his first career touchdown in a Sunday night prime time game against Kansas City.

Saunders summed up his first season pretty well with this statement: “You know expectations weren’t to0 high for an undrafted quote u quote trouble maker out of South Carolina, but I was able to have a pretty production season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

Saunders talked about the loss to Tim Tebow and the Broncos in the first round of the playoffs, his recent conversations with Stephen Garcia and more in the full interview you can listen to below.

Every Monday, we catch up with Panthers play-by-play guy, Mick Mixon, to discuss Sundays action with Carolina.  The Panthers are coming off of what could be there most abysmal performance of the season.  They took a 30-3 shellacking at the hands of the Tennessee Titans at home.  Mick was pleased with the national anthem, the flyover, amongst other things.  Then, the game started.

We we would be remiss, here at SportsTalk, if we didn’t include coverage and analysis of the Carolina Panthers play on Sunday.  For this we welcome in our good friend, and voice of the Carolina Panthers, Mick Mixon.  The Panthers traveled down to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in the Georgia Dome.  Cam Newton has, at the very least, kept Carolina in every game this year, but his 3 picks were the story as the Falcons beat the Panthers 31-17.  Mick explains.
