UPDATE: Bobby Cremins clarifies future with Cougars (AUDIO)

Cremins clarifies coaching decision

Earlier we posted a story based on a conversation Kornblut had with Bobby Cremins about his future with the College of Charleston basketball team.  Korn ran into Cremins at the RBC Heritage media day in Hilton Head, where Cremins has a house.  Cremins wanted to clairfy that he still has not made a final decision on whether or not he’s going to return and did so in an extended interview on SportsTalk Monday.  Earlier he had indicated he might be leaning towards not returning to the bench next season.  In his interview on the show, he left the door for a return a lot further open.

The Cougars are 8-2 since Cremins left the bench.  The Southern Conference Tournamnet begins Thursday in Asheville.

USC’s Darrin Horn previews Florida 1.31.12 (AUDIO)

The USC basketball team is coming off of a 4 point loss to Ole Miss down in Oxford over the weekend, but seemingly found some things in which they can build upon.  The Gamecocks are still vying for their first league road victory and will get another shot Thursday night when they make their way down to Gainesville to take on the Gators.

College of Charleston’s Cremins to take leave of absence (AUDIO)

The College of Charleston basketball team has hit quite the skid on the basketball court as of late, losing their past 3 games, including a 69-63 loss to Furman last night.  Today the news got worse off the court when Cougar Head Coach, Bobby Cremins, decided to take a medical leave of absence.

The school held a press conferce shortly after 6:15 to officially turn the team over to Assistant, Mark Byington. 

 Hull read from a statement from Cremins stating: “I have decided to step aside to take a medical leave of absence, I have asked our Athletics Director, Joe Hull, to turn the team over to our Associate Head Coach, Mark Byington…..”

Clemson’s Brad Brownell Previews Wake Forrest (AUDIO)

The Clemson Tiger basketball team got ACC win number two last Saturday when they defeated the Georiga Tech Yellow Jackets in a close one, 64-62.  This Saturday the Tigers will look to build some momentum within the league when they host Wake Forrest.

USC’s Darrin Horn Previews Ole Miss (AUDIO)

The Gamecocks basketball team is coming off of their first win in league play, thanks to a game winning runner in the lane by Point Guard, Bruce Ellington.  Tomorrow the Gamecocks will head to Oxford to  try to get their first SEC road win.
