In the fall semester, eight Clemson athletic teams recorded at least a 3.0 collective GPA, according to the University’s Office of Institutional Research. The men’s basketball team, whose combined GPA for the semester was 3.13, recorded a GPA over 3.0 for the first time in school history.
Nine members of the basketball team were named to the academic honor roll (another school record), including all four seniors. Catalin Baicu, Tanner Smith, and T.J. Sapp made the Dean’s List.
The Tigers’ football team posted a collective 2.49 GPA, with 27 players on the academic honor roll. Notable members include Dalton Freeman and Dawson Zimmerman, each of whom had a perfect 4.0 for the semester, all-ACC quarterback Tajh Boyd, and Coty Sensabaugh.
The Women’s Swimming team recorded the highest team GPA with a 3.55.
Overall, 51% of Clemson’s student-athletes were named to the academic honor roll, with 106 on the Dean’s List and 40 on the President’s List. The GPA for all student-athletes combined was 2.94, which is the second best semester on record. The spring semester of 2009 recorded a 2.97 collective GPA.
