Coastal Carolina’s search for a new head football coach took all of ten days. According to sources, the school will introduce 61 year old Joe Moglia as the replacement for David Bennett at an 11:00 AM news conference at the football field house.
Moglia spent this past season as the head coach of the Omaha (NE) Nighthawks of the United Football League. Moglia also is a billionaire. He is the current chairman and former CEO of TD Ameritrade. According to Forbes.com, Moglia’s 2009 compensation was $9,936,460.00.
But Moglia also has a lot of football in his background. He was a coach for 16 years on both the high school and college level, including serving as defensive coordinator at Dartmourth, before entering the financial world.
In 2008, he decided he wanted to return to coaching and volunteered on the Nebraska staff under Bo Pelini. He then went to the UFL, first with the Virginia franchise and then Omaha.

Interesting. However, earning 9 Million a year doesn’t exactly make you a “Billionaire” Millionaire, yes, Billionaire, long way to go for that.
Brian, lets assume he’s been making 9 million+ for the past 20 years. Lets also assume he’s invested and controls a lot of assets. Hard to think he doesn’t have a billion in the hole.
His net worth is 1.2 Billion. http://www.siliconprairienews.com/2010/06/td-ameritrades-joe-moglia-bucks-tradition
That’s ALL? Wonder how he feeds his family on that.
Get em Kmac..Bring Coffee and doughnuts for tonights show..The professor wants some too.
This is who they fired Bennet for? Must be a bunch of US congressman working in the CC athletic dept! United Football League? We have some pretty good Gray-Y coaches here in Rock Hill that sound qualified!
WTF!?!?! They either have a great sense of humor and don’t care much about their football program, or they think this is funny, and don’t care much about their football program.
This is why I never, ever, give money to my alma mater, UNTIL I see tuition/costs go down. NEVER! give to a College or University!!
Joe Moglia is a self made man
As I sat next to him at Fordham Prep, one could easily see that Joe was special
Good for you Joe
Follow your dreams Big Guy
