3rd Quarter Recap – Clemson 29 BC 14

Sammy Watkins was back in standout form against BC with seven catches

Clemson opened the 2nd half with the ball, and the offense continued to produce.  Boyd connected with Hopkins for 22 yards, then two plays later true freshman Sammy Watkins made a circus catch and run for 62 yards down to the BC 6 yard line.  Next came a scary moment for the Tigers as Tajh Boyd injured his leg and was carted off the field with an apparent calf injury.  The stadium was in a stunned silence as the offense retook the field, but then gave a supportive cheer for freshman qb Cole Stoudt as he took the ball.  The offense stalled the Tigers settled for another Catanzaro FG.  The score was now 26-7 Clemson.

BC opened its next drive with great field position at their own 47.  4 straight runs got the Eagles to the Clemson 40, but then Rettiq’s first pass of the drive resulted in a Jonathan Meeks interception at the Clemson 1 yard line.

The Tigers took over, but went 3 and out and were forced to punt.  BC started with great field position once again, and this time took advantage.  The Eagles struck quick with the help of a roughing the passer penalty on Andre Branch.  QB Rettiq connected with Bobby Swigert for a 24 yard TD making the score 26-14 Clemson.  The stadium became really quiet.

Cole Stoudt gained some confidence on the next drive as he led the Tigers to the Eagles 30 before settling for a 47 yard FG by Catanzaro, making the score 29-14.  Stoudt was 3-5 for 23 yards on the drive, and freshman RB Mike Bellamy had 20 yards rushing.
