Clemson opened the 2nd half with the ball, and the offense continued to produce. Boyd connected with Hopkins for 22 yards, then two plays later true freshman Sammy Watkins made a circus catch and run for 62 yards down to the BC 6 yard line. Next came a scary moment for the Tigers as Tajh Boyd injured his leg and was carted off the field with an apparent calf injury. The stadium was in a stunned silence as the offense retook the field, but then gave a supportive cheer for freshman qb Cole Stoudt as he took the ball. The offense stalled the Tigers settled for another Catanzaro FG. The score was now 26-7 Clemson.
BC opened its next drive with great field position at their own 47. 4 straight runs got the Eagles to the Clemson 40, but then Rettiq’s first pass of the drive resulted in a Jonathan Meeks interception at the Clemson 1 yard line.
The Tigers took over, but went 3 and out and were forced to punt. BC started with great field position once again, and this time took advantage. The Eagles struck quick with the help of a roughing the passer penalty on Andre Branch. QB Rettiq connected with Bobby Swigert for a 24 yard TD making the score 26-14 Clemson. The stadium became really quiet.
Cole Stoudt gained some confidence on the next drive as he led the Tigers to the Eagles 30 before settling for a 47 yard FG by Catanzaro, making the score 29-14. Stoudt was 3-5 for 23 yards on the drive, and freshman RB Mike Bellamy had 20 yards rushing.
