2nd quarter recap: Clemson leads BC 23-7 at the half

Malliciah Goodman gets one of the Tigers' three sacks of BC quarterback Chase Rettig

Boston College opened the quarter by connecting on a deep TD pass from QB Chase Rettig to WR Bobby Swigert, only to have it called back on a personal foul.  The Eagles then went nowhere and were forced to punt.

Clemson started the drive from its own 2.  A promising drive to midfield was stalled by a reverse gone wrong, resulting in a loss of 13.  2 incompletions later the Tigers punted to the BC 16 with 10:22 until the half.

The Tiger defense held BC to yet another 3 and out.  Clemson started its next drive from their own 46, and went on a 6 play, 29 yard drive to the BC 25 before settling for a 42 yard FG from Catanzaro.  The score was now 20-0 Clemson.

Boston College finally showed signs of life on its next drive marching down the field on a 10 play, 80 yard drive scoring drive in 5:03.  Chase Rettig connected with Bobby Swigert 4 times for 40 yards on the drive before RB Rolandan Finch rushed for a 20 yard TD.  Finch is starting in place of the injured Montel Harris.  The score was now 20-7 Clemson.

Clemson received the ball with 1:55 left in the half on its own 33 yard line.  Boyd led the Tigers down to the Eagles 2 yard line before settling for an 18 yard FG from Catanzaro.  Boyd connected with Brandon Ford for 9 yards on the drive, followed with a 16 yard hookup with Sammy Watkins to the Eagles 7.  D.J. Howard ran to the 2, but the Tigers could move no further on the drive.  The FG made the score 23-7 at the half.
