4th Quarter Recap: USC holds back Dawgs 45-42

Georgia puts together a fabulous drive with Aaron Murray going eight for eight thru the air including a 20 yard scoring pass to Michael Bennett that brought the Dogs within two.  Murray then hit Tavarres King in the back of the end zone with the two point conversion.  With 12:45 to play, it’s a 28-28 game.

 USC comes right back to take the lead.  The Gamecocks convert a big fourth and one to keep the drive alive but it stalls out at the Georgia 31.  From there Jay Wooten is true on a 49 yard field goal.  USC goes back on top 31-28 with 8:31 left.

The Gamecock lead was short lived.  Georgia got a 58 yard kickoff return from Brandon Boykin to the USC 37.  Five plays later, Isaiah Crowell run in from 15 yards out putting Georgia up 35-31 with 6:28 to play.

 USC answered with a quick drive down the field with a touchdown drive capped by a Marcus Lattimore two yard touchdown with 3:28 to play.  After the extra  point USC led 38-35 with 3:28 to play.

USC’s defense clinched the win on Georgia’s first play of the ensuing drive.  Jadeveon Clowney sacked Murray and stripped the ball in the process. Melvin Ingram scooped it up and scored to put the Gamecocks up 45-35.   It was Ingram’s second touchdown of the game.

Georgia didn’t go down without a fight.  Murray hit King on a 33 touchdown pass to get the Bulldogs back within three with just 2:15 to play.  The drive took just 57 seconds.  USC was up 45-42.

Georgia went for the onside kick on the next play and Melvin Ingram made the play for USC.  Kid was everywhere against the Dawgs.  The Gamecocks picked up a first down with a few Lattimore carries to seal the win.
