The teams exchanged punts to open the quarter. Branden Smith returned the Gamecock punt 32 yards to set up the Bulldogs at the Gamecock 43. Aaron Murray hit Isaiah Crowell on a middle screen for 23 yards to the 20. And three plays later the two hooked up again, a short pass that Crowell took 17 yards for his first Georgia touchdown. With 6:09 left in the quarter, Georgia leads 20-14.
Georgia forced another Gamecock punt and has complete control of the game. Until a fumble on a handoff is picked up by Stephon Gilmore who returns it 56 yards to the Georgia 5. Two plays later Stephen Garcia runs in from 8 yards out. USC takes a 21-20 lead with 2:39 left in the quarter.
USC struck again less than thirty seconds later. Antonio Allen stepped in front of an Aaron Murray pass and took it back 25 yards for a touchdown. It is Allen’s second touchdown of the season, and it marks the third straight regular season game he has scored a touchdown. With 1:52 left in the quarter, USC leads 28-20.
That’s how the quarter ends. Georgia has 300 yards, USC 256. Garcia is 8-20 for 97 yards. Ingram is the leading rusher with his 68 yard run.
