According to a report by WLTX in Columbia, USC defensive back DeVonte Holloman was arrested Saturday and charged with DUI. The report said Holloman was arrested at a sobriety check-point on George Rogers Boulevard, which runs directly in front of Williams-Brice Stadium.
Holloman is a rising junior out of South Pointe High School in Rock Hill. He is considered one of the key players for the Gamecock defense this year. The strong saftey was the third leading tackler on the team last year and had a career high eight tackles against Florida State in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
USC football SID Steve Fink told SportsTalk late Saturday night that any player arrested in immediately suspended from the team. Fink is in Omaha with the baseball team and could not confirm the arrest.
Holloman is the second USC football player to make news this weekend. On Friday the team dismissed sophomore defensive back Victor Hampton for a violation of team rules.
We will pass along more information as details emerge.
