More details on Joe Craig case

According to source speaking Friday night, the incident between suspended Clemson track athletes Joe Craig and Marlena Wesh started at a pool party involving the two track teams.  The guys started going after the girls with Super Soaker water guns and Wesh took exception.

An argument broke out between Craig and Wesh and at one point Wesh threatened to damage Craig’s car.  After the party, some teammates took Craig to Wesh’s apartment to try to resolve things.  But the conversation between Craig and Wesh grew heated again.

At some point during the conversation, Wesh grabbed a type of grooming knife.  She swung at Craig three times before  cutting him from the back of his left shoulder down his arm to near his elbow.  Craig apparently put his arm up in self-defense and that’s when he was cut.

Craig was taken into a bathroom where some teammates cleaned him up.  After seeing how badly he was cut, Craig became enraged and ripped down a curtain rod.  He used the rod to hit Wesh across the top of her head leaving her with a cut.

Neither Craig nor Wesh is pressing charges in the case.  Both will have a hearing next week before Clemson’s student judiciary panel.  Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney will comment on Craig’s status after that hearing.
