For the duration of the MLB season, SportsTalk promises to bring you comprehensive coverage of the Atlanta Braves.  Our friend, Mike Morgan, of the Braves Radio Network, joins us to discuss anything and everything involving the Bravos.

AUDIO: Braves Report

We were generous enough to give Mike the night off last night, so he could be ready to provide proper analysis regarding the potential of the Braves young starter, Mike Minor.  The boys also address the issue (again) of why the Braves have doubled as marathon runners all season long.

Coastal will have to head to the upstate to play in the Clemson regional as the #3 seed.  They will play game one, Friday, against the #2 seed UConn.  The game of baseball, as a whole, is in for a treat as Coach Gilmore has announced he will be throwing his Ace, Anthony Meo, who’s coming off throwing a no-hitter in his last start, in game one.  UConn will counter with their Ace, flame-throwing Jr, Matt Barnes.  The 6’4 Huskie is projected to be a top 10 pick in the upcoming Major League Baseball draft.  The winner of this showdown will play the winner of top seeded Clemson and the #4 seed in the region, Sacred Heart.

Recruiting Report 5.31.11

QB Brendan Nosovitch of Allentown, PA will visit Clemson, USC and Georgia Tech in June his father said Monday night. “We’re probably going to take a family trip to Clemson and Georgia Tech within the next two to three weeks,” Gene Nosovitch said. “And we’ll probably stop at South Carolina.” Nosovitch has previously visited USC and recruiter GA Mangus has been thru his school this spring. Nosovitch has offers from USC, Clemson, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Temple, Ohio, Army and others. His father is expecting more offers in the next couple of weeks. Penn State is among the others showing interest and reports have had Nosovitch waiting on a Nittany Lion offer before moving forward. His father said that’s not the case. “He’s not waiting on Penn State to offer,” he said. “Penn State is like everybody else out there. He’s excited about his offers from South Carolina and Virginia and he’s still exploring Clemson and Georgia Tech. He’s developed a good relationship with coach Mangus. He really likes coach Mangus.” Mr. Nosovitch added that Clemson quarterbacks coach Chad Morris is very interested in his son. “Clemson does seem interested in him,” he said. “They feel like he fits in with their system. But there’s no doubt USC and Virginia are out front.” Nosovitch would like to make his decision before his season.

OL D.J. Humphries (6-6 275) of Charlotte has over 30 offers that include USC, Clemson, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Texas, North Carolina, Auburn, Southern Cal, Ohio State and LSU. He has not narrowed his list but did name USC, Florida and Tennessee has his current favorites. “I have a comfortability with those schools,” Humphries said. “I like the coaches and just feel comfortable with those schools.” Humphries has developed a good relationship with USC RB Marcus Lattimore. “He’s a real good guy,” he said. “I’ve built a good relationship with him and their coaches.” Coaches from USC, UNC, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Miami, Southern Cal, California and Maryland among others have stopped by the school spring to see Humphries. He is planning trips to Clemson, USC, Florida, Miami, Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee this summer. Humphries did not name a favorite.
