Sources with knowledge of what led to Stephen Garcia’s suspension from the football program told us the following Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening:
The SEC staged an educational seminar for the athletes dealing with how to deal with agents and their runners. There were no staff members of the USC athletic program present or any coaches, just representatives from the SEC.
Garcia came into the seminar “loud and rambunctious”. But, Garcia wasn’t the only player who was unruly during the session. The players were asked questions about their football experiences at USC . Garcia was loud and used some profanity in expressing his feelings. He was first asked to calm down and then asked to leave. He left.
The SEC administrator of the seminar was not happy with how Garcia and some other players behaved during the session and sent a message to Eric Hyman expressing his disatisfaction with his time at USC.
USC president Dr. Harris Pastides, AD Eric Hyman and head coach Steve Spurrier agreed Garcia had to be suspended to show the SEC the school was taking action against him for disrupting its seminar.

Adversity gives us the chance to respond in two ways. We can fight or flee from difficult situations. Garcia will find inner strength and defeat this adversity that has plagued his young life. He will find inner strength and peace never experienced before.
His determination is supported by all not just his football family.
