USC’s Culliver likely out for the season

USC coach Steve Spurrier said Sunday senior cornerback Chris Culliver is expected to miss the rest of the season after injuring his shoulder during the win over Tennessee Saturday.

Culliver had started 30 of the last 32 games.  He had off season surgery on his left shoulder and missed spring practice.  He had 34 tackles and a sack this season but was badly beaten on three pass plays by Tennessee Saturday.

CC Whitlock is expected to move into Culliver’s cornerback spot with Marty Markett and Brandon Davis the likely backups.

The Gamecocks play host to Arkansas Saturday night.  The Razorbacks, with quarterback Ryan Mallett, are second in the nation in passing at 360 yards per game.  USC is last in the SEC in pass defense.

Ellington out at least two games with toe injury

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney announced Sunday that sophomore running back Andre Ellington will be out for at least the next two games due to a toe injury that he suffered at Boston College on Saturday.  He suffered the injury in the second half against the Eagles.

Ellington leads the Tigers with 686 rushing yards and leads the ACC in all-purpose yards.

Clemson will play host N.C. State at Noon Saturday.
