Time Warner Cable and ESPN have reached a deal that will avoid an interruption in service that could have affected Thursday’s USC-Southern Miss game and potentially other USC and Clemson games on ESPN.
The two sides were in fierce, if not contentious, negotiations as the September 1st deadline was approaching. ESPN was actually buying ads to implore viewers to change cable providers in order to ensure they didn’t lose ESPN.
The New York Post reported today that a deal has been struck.
Time Warner Cable and Walt Disney Co. have come to terms for a carriage agreement, avoiding a possible blackout of Disney’s ABC and ESPN shows on the cable system, the New York Post reported, citing an unidentified person close to the talks.
The agreement still needs to be reviewed by the companie’s legal advisers, the newspaper said.
The existing Time Warner Cable/Disney contract expires Thursday, a week before the NFL season opens in New Orleans, the newspaper added.
This is all very good news for Time Warner subscribers that were wondering if they were going to miss Thursday night’s Gamecock season opener in Columbia.
