Tanner is looking for a pitching coach
We caught up with John Whittle from The Big Spur today to get his take on some of the potential candidates in line to replace Mark Calvi as USC’s pitching coach. Calvi is leaving USC to become the coach in waiting at South Alabama. Whittle has some interesting names on his list, including former Gamecock ace Kip Bouknight.

Whittle also discussed the future of Carolina associate head coach Chad Holbrook. Holbrook is slated to sit down with Winthrop next week to discuss. According to Whittle Winthrop is poised to make a strong push to lure Holbrook to Rock Hill.
Whittle also said he expects Ray Tanner to get a contract extension soon. He’s hearing it will probably be a two year extension that would extend his contract to a five year deal. Of course the extension will include a bump in pay as well.
