Braves bats finally wake up in 8-2 win over Brewers

The Braves offense came around last night in a much needed and long overdue 8-2 trouncing at Milwaukee. Atlanta has been on the wrong end of a lot of low scoring, and light hitting games the past few weeks and it had to feel good to break out of that slump, if only for a night.

Martin Prado practically busted the bats out of hibernation on his own. He drove in a run early and then plated four more with a grand slam latter in the game. That outburst was all the cushion Tommy Hanson would need on the mound. He pitched eight flawless innings without allowing a run and striking out eight.

On the injury front, Chipper Jones left the game because of a strain in his leg that was making it hard for him to run. He is questionable for tonight’s game. Jason Heyward is expected to be back in the lineup tonight after missing a few starts because of a pulled muscle.

Tim Hudson will pitch tonight for Atlanta. The Brew Crew will counter with Dave Bush. First pitch is 8:10.

The Braves begin the night 5 games behind the Phillies in the NL East standings.

There is still plenty of baseball to be played….
