Coastal Carolina maintained its top ten ranking in both major baseball polls this week. The Chanticleers are 8th in both the Baseball America poll and they are 7th in the Collegiate Baseball ranking. The Chant’s are 11-1 after Monday’s 3-2 win over Ball State in Conway.
Clemson improved to 9-1 courtesy of taking two of three from rival USC over the weekend. The Tigers are ranked 12th in Baseball America and somehow they fell one spot to 13th in Collegiate Baseball. Don’t ask me how you drop a spot after beating a legit top 25 team twice. I really have given up on trying to figure out these baseball polls. Clemson returns to action Wednesday against Gardner Webb. Believe it or not they actually open ACC play this weekend at home against N.C. State.
As for USC, the Gamecocks are 19th in Baseball America and 23rd in Collegiate baseball. The Gamecocks are 6-4 and open a two game tilt with Valparaiso tonight in Columbia. This weekend the Gamecocks will play a three game home series with Brown.
