Coastal Carolina and Winthrop hoops back in action

Coastal Carolina and Winthrop can move one step closer to the big dance tonight in the semi-finals of the Big South Tournament in Conway. If both of them can win tonight we will be guaranteed to have at least one team representing the Palmetto State. It would likely mean we’ll have at least two since Clemson (21-8, 9-7) is essentially a lock to get an at-large bid.

The fun begins at 6:00 with Winthrop playing Radford. The Eagles are 17-13 and finished the Big South slate at 12-6. Radford is 19-11 and 13-5.

At 8:00, Coastal Carolina, coming off their first regular season title in 17 years, will play UNC-Asheville. The Chanticleers are 27-5 and 15-3. Asheville is 15-15 and 11-7.

Both of these games will be televised on ESPN-U. You can also follow the action here if you can’t get to a television.

The winner’s of tonight’s game will meet in the title game Saturday at 4:00.
