I woke up this morning and it was 29 degrees outside. I knew it could mean only one thing: baseball season is here! That’s right, the snow has melted and it is time to hear the ping of aluminum bats across the state. Spring may be a few weeks away, but baseball has arrived my friends.
I love the college baseball season and we very fortunate to have some of the top programs in the country scattered across our great state. Entering the season we have three teams ranked in the top 25 (USC 10th, Clemson 14th, Coastal Carolina 17th) and there are several others that have a chance to be pretty good this year (College of Charleston, Citadel, Winthrop).
So, if you are looking to get out this weekend, bundle up and head to the ball park. Actually, it isn’t going to be THAT cold. Just go out and enjoy the ballpark. It is going to be a fun season and I am excited it is finally here.
Here are this weekend’s game:
USC vs Duquesne Friday @ 3:00, Saturday @ 3:00 and Sunday @ 1:30.
Clemson has the odd schedule of three games in three days against three different teams. Tonight they play host to Miami of Ohio at 4:00. Tomorrow they face Michigan State at 1:00 at Fluor Field in Greenville. On Sunday they return home to play Furman at 2:00.
Also today, 17th ranked Coastal Carolina is at home against West Virginia, Michigan State is at Furman, Pittsburgh is at Wofford, Radford is at the College of Charleston, Winthrop faces Northwestern, Presbyterian plays Appalachian State in Spartanburg, The Citadel is at home against East Tennessee State and Charleston Southern plays host to VCU.
You can follow all the scores and get stats here.
See you at the ballpark.
