There are three major stories involving the Clemson and USC football programs Tuesday afternoon. According to Volquest.com, Tennessee has hired Clemson’s Kevin Steele as its new defensive coordinator. Steele is a Tennessee graduate. This would be his third stint at the school. Steele actually made an in home recruiting visit last night for Clemson to see committed defensive end Tavaris Barnes in Jacksonville.
At USC, the BigSpur.com is reporting rising senior tight end Weslye Saunders has been suspended indefinitely for issues related to attitude, work ethic and conditioning. The report says the staff has made it clear to Saunders what he must do to remain a part of the program.
And The State reports Gamecock backup quarterback Reid McCollum has quit the team. McCollum played in two games last season as a redshirt freshman.
