Tommy Bowden linked to Texas Tech

Former Clemson coach Tommy Bowden is being mentioned as a potential candidate to replace recently fired Mike Leach at Texas Tech. Bowden is 55 years old and was forced out at Clemson in the middle of the 2008 season. He was 72-45 in his nine plus years running the Tigers program. He was 18-4 in two years at Tulane. Bowden has never had a losing season in his 11 years as a head coach.

Bowden has said in recent months that he wouldn’t mind getting back into coaching. He said over the summer that he had a few opportunities prior to this season but decided to sit out a year. I’m not sure how interested the Red Raiders are in Bowden and my guess is that he is a long shot to land the job in Lubbock. I am not sure how he would fit in there quite honestly.  Former Auburn coach Tommy Tubberville has also been linked to the opening.

I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Tommy Bowden on the sidelines though. I suspect he will be at a FBS (Division-1 school) sooner rather than later.

Good luck with another washed up Bowden…just like his daddy, no creativity or ownership. Then again, he did recruit both James Davis and CJ Spiller. Signed: Realistic Clemson Tiger Fan and Graduate

They won’t have to worry about him getting in a players face. And they grow alot of grass in texass.
