Wofford men’s basketball coach Mike Young has announced the schedule for the 2009-10 season. The schedule includes home games against Navy and South Carolina, along with road games against 2009 NCAA Tournament participants Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Illinois.
Wofford will play 18 league games this season, down from 20 last year. The Terriers will have home-and-home series with South Division Teams, plus home-and-home games with UNC Greensboro and Elon in the North Division. Wofford will play Western Carolina, Appalachian State, Chattanooga and Samford from the North Division only once this season.
The Terriers tip off the season on November 13 with a visit to Pittsburgh, which advanced to the 2009 Elite Eight under head coach Jamie Dixon. After a road game against Georgia on November 17, Wofford opens the home slate against Lees-McRae.
The first of two tournaments on the schedule begins with the Las Vegas Invitational. The tournament begins with road games at Illinois and Bradley. Illinois participated in the 2009 NCAA Tournament as a five seed. The Tournament continues on November 27 and 28 in Las Vegas with games against Southern University and Seattle.
On December 2, Wofford opens Southern Conference play at Western Carolina. Friday, December 4, the Terriers travel to Michigan State to face the 2009 NCAA runner-up. The Spartans team includes Isaiah Dahlman, the older brother of Wofford forward Noah Dahlman.
Wofford returns to Spartanburg for a four-game home stand that begins with Appalachian State on December 7. Navy will visit Benjamin Johnson Arena on December 12, followed by South Carolina on December 19 and UNC Asheville on December 21.
The second tournament of the season is the Cable Car Classic, hosted by Santa Clara. The Terriers will face Kent State in the opening round on December 29, followed by either Northeastern or Santa Clara on December 30.
The Southern Conference schedule gets into full swing on January 7 at Elon, followed by a trip to UNC Greensboro on January 9. The regular season concludes on February 27 with a game in Spartanburg against The Citadel.
The Southern Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin on March 5 in Charlotte, with the championship game slated for March 8 at Time Warner Arena.
