Quigley will skip British Open

Former USC standout Brett Quigley has decided he won’t play in this week’s British Open. Despite the fact that he earned a last minute invitation, Quigley isn’t making the trip to Scotland because he wants to honor his commitment to the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee this week and he plans attend the memorial for the wife of his friend and fellow tour Player Chris Smith. She was killed in a car crash last month. Quigley finished tied for second at the John Deere Classic over the weekend.

There will be some locals in the field for the Open Championship when it tees off Thursday at Turnberry. Coastal Carolina alum Dustin Johnson will tee off at 3:09 Thursday morning…that’s local time of course, Clemson alum DJ Trahan will go off shortly after 5:00 in the morning, US Open Champion Lucas Glover will tee off at 7:58. Tiger Woods will begin his first round at 4:09 Thursday morning.
